Hello,

My name is Bob, and this will be the second year that I will participate in this wonderful event designed to raise funds for the Mount Washington Observatory. This organization depends heavily on membership support and donations from people like you to carry out its mission. Their mission is to advance understanding of the natural systems that create the Earth's weather and climate, by maintaining its mountaintop weather station, conducting research and educational programs.

In addition to the weather station atop the mountain, there are a variety of activities you, your family and friends can enjoy and participate in. If you are a member, you can get an educational tour of the observatory, given by any one of the very knowledgeable staff who work on the summit. They even conduct summer and winter EduTrips where you can spend a night on the summit, learning much more than you would on a regular tour. For those that just want to experience some fantastic views from the highest peak in the Northeastern United States, there is a fantastic museum, complete with refreshment facilities and gift shops. To reach all these fun activities, you can hike up to the summit, providing you are prepared and in shape to tackle this great mountain. If hiking isn't how you would like to get to the top, there is the ever popular Mount Washington Auto Road or the Mount Washington Cog Railway. Both these modes of transportation afford passengers fantastic views all the way up to the top. Come on up and see for yourself!

To show my support, I will hike up to the summit's 6,288 foot peak, then back down in a vigorous hike that will take around 8 hours roundtrip.
